Blue jean makeover! A little denim and lace!

Image
I just wanted to share this fun little project I did awhile back. I had these jeans that were ripped to the point that I couldn't wear them anymore (even though I LOVE my ripped up jeans), but I loved the way they fit and wanted to save them. So, I took some sleeves that were left from a hoodie project that I had done and made "patches". The fabric is stretchy, so it moves with me and the print gives it the illusion of lace! Love, love, LOVE them!

Outfit of the Day, Edgy, Grunge Rock Princess

Image
Today's look is edgy and cool, perfect for a summer rock concert series. I made the reverse applique skirt out of a pair of low rise, boot cut jeans, so it has a sort of mermaid skirt silhouette. Then I took the skull graphics off of one of my son's outgrown t shirts, sewed them to the inside and cut out around them, fraying the edges with a stiff wire brush. The black and white polka dot halter top is upcycled from a cami and the little quilted bag is recycled from a t shirt and blue jeans. Outfit of the Day, City Style

Today's outfit of the day combines sleek city style, with whimsical, colorful detail. One of a kind, upcycled mini skirt is embellished with bright, florals and a piece sign appliques. The belt is made from coordinating fabrics. Super cute look to go from office (with a sleeveless shell in any matching color) to a night on the town by switching to a satin tank or slinky halter top. From Wooden Spool to Awesome End Table for Chicago Cubs Theme Mancave

Image
Even though I mainly work with upcycling clothing, I can not resist an opportunity to recycle just about anything. When I stumbled across this wooden spool that had been left to rot on the back corner of our property, I couldn't resist it. I had a need for an end table in our Cubs themed mancave, and since my tastes run on the rustic side, I knew that need was about to be fulfilled! I started be sanding it down (after cleaning it up, of course) and then rubbed white paint on with a rag, to give it the white washed look. Then, I stenciled a vintage Chicago Cubs logo on to the top and painted the outline, filling in the blue areas but leaving the distressed white to show through. I had to enlarge the logo on my laptop and print it out in sections to get the correct size, then I taped it together and used simple tracing paper (the kind you use to mark fabric) to trace the pattern on to the top. I watered down red acrylic paint to get the washed out, vintage look and coated the top wi...

Outfit of the day! Spring Fling

Image
I love upcycling.....ANYTHING! Clothing, furniture, wood scraps, fabric scraps, you name it, I will try to recycle it. I even landscape with stray bushes and trees that have come up voluntarily around the yard! So, after I had done a few upcyled projects with some long sleeve t shirts, I was left with a pile of sleeves and that is when the light bulbs began to go off! I took those sleeves, sewed them together into a skirt, cut off an old cowl neck t shirt, took the waistband off of an old t shirt dress that didn't fit quite right and.....there you have it, a super cute, upcycled t shirt dress! The shape of the sleeves made a natural handkerchief hem and give it that swingy fullness. Then I added a few flowers that I had cut out of leftover fabric scraps and this is the final result! #EtsyLoveBuyItNow
